Art Therapy is another creative way in which we engage with clients in order to enable them to express their distressing and confusing feelings that they are struggling with or uncomfortable to talk about.
Art Therapy also enables us to pick up and understand those feelings that the clients are struggling to express with words, by;
- not interpreting the clients art work
- but picking up on their non verbal communication through their art
- gentle guiding clients through the process of expressing themselves creatively
and
- enabling them to explore and reflect on their art work
- helping them to articulate their feelings as they unfold
- helping them address their difficulties and feelings.
It is suitable for everyone and more especially people suffering from:
- depression
- bereavement
- shame or guilt
- learning difficulties
- trauma (PTSD)
- shyness & are introverted
